retsof, how goes it? Looking good! ![]() It was this morning, but think the hard drive just crashed on the P4/1.7. It was making noises like it was seeking the same cylinder. Seconds were incrementing but everything else was frozen. It wouldn't reboot, but the same disk noises were heard. hal.dll windows file was said to be missing. Not good, but I was hoping for a faster computer anyway. That's the second computer crash that I had bought for a replacement, but they both were cheapies. That means that I may research something new, an AMD64 3500+ or better. I'm still contributing output from an AMD64 3400+.

Retsof - I know, 'it's that pain in the butt again harping on about stats', but can you explain why you and I are reporting the same team stats in Sig Box while fingerle, reporting for the same team, has different stats in his? Boerni's stat box is an aftermarket thing. He comes in sometime AFTER the stats and runs his accumulator job. There could be some mismatches at some points, but they should catch up. Look at "my grid" for the most current totals, including partial member totals for the current day.Is this possibly linked to the same problem I was trying to explain in 'the other place' about stats on the agent showing figures that bore little relation to the 'actual' stats. Thanks in advance The lost stats at grid.org are something else again. I don't see any lost stats here.

Tell them not to worry about it. Every computer 200MHz or faster can make a contribution. Times are all over the place. A fast computer here has processed everything from 1 hour 46 minute units to 18 hour units. A Pentium II/400 took over 13 days each for a couple of Rosetta workunits. Points are given for the amount of "effort", so slow computers will get a bazillion of them.

A lot has been said about the complexity of different work units that are of the same size.
I will refer you to what Viktors has written about this. He gives a clear explanation. I hope you find it useful. Keep crunching!! |
