Some progress...nice I guess.
----------------------------------------What I mean by that is why on earth are you guys using a Hardware RAID setup on this type of deployment? There are better options that won't cause issues like this in the future. Find a new IT Company that knows what they are doing. Please! for the future of WCG. |

It always amuses me, when someone says "new and improved" - as it can't be both, its GOT to be one or the other. If it's 'new', it can't have been in existence before, and likewise, if it's 'improved', then it can't be new (i.e., something's got to have existed before). The improved version is NEW. Not BRAND new, but your previous version is the old version and this improved version is the new version. ^_^ |

Deadlines have been extended Yes they have, but the extended deadlines will expire soon. I have already extended deadlines that expires March 24, 26, and 27. So, unless you are sure that BOINC uploads and reporting are available before those dates, you'd better extend the deadlines again. Yes, i second it. I have > 100 completed WUs with deadlines that expires March 24 or even March 23 (today!). So another deadlines extension is clearly needed right now. If project staff needs these results back of course (Which I'm starting to doubt, though.) In addition, after the restart, there will be such a flow of requests to the servers from the accumulated tasks waiting to upload and report on the boinc clients that with a high probability something will break on the servers side AGAIN. Or at best, there will be problems with uploading and downloading for a few more days after re-launch. So deadlines should be extended for at least 2 weeks more. Or may be it is easier to let these "stuck" WUs die and then calculate the tasks again when the server sends the failed tasks to other clients after normalizing the work. Yes, this will be the loss of computation already made... But who cares? WCG in its current state anyway has more client side computing capacity than it can handle properly. I have written a letter to the board of directors of UHN and sent it through the Foundation website as I couldn’t find a proper address for them. I hope it reaches them. I suspect that Dr. Jurisca can clear up any discrepancies.
