Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I am not sure if the Wikipedia article does justice to the whole meaning of the word, but it sure is informative. I can sure see where the pronunciation of the two words is very close.
Cheers

Originally it was neutral word like Thunderbird, Thor or something, but lately become synonym to s*t*n.
So, certainly something that you just cannot use now a days unless hitting thumb with hammer or something.

More local lingual.
If something is lost, you can say that it is in wolf.
I guess this is origin from time when wolf eat scissors if you left them to table.

Same in form of cartoon.
Dude wrotes: Enemies main-assault continues, man-lost has become unbearable
On next screen man-lost (lost=wolf) is yelling more sausage and booze.

I enjoy the idiomatic expressions you give. They may not all translate well, but they are interesting.
Since you mention wolf, we have had our first wolf hunt here in many years. The state issued I think 400 permits and the harvest was 147. there will also be a trapping season. The total wolf population was estimated at 3000 so the feeling is this will not have any major impact on the total population. Many people have spoken both for and against the hunt and the trapping season. Once both are done the state will look at the impact and decide if they will continue next year.
Cheers

Sorry to see you go, your GPU processing was helping the team, and you were providing some real competition to me :) I bought another 7970 so I could catch up to you!

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I can dedicate only one of my crunchers for 100% GPU. Didn't think this would come back so fast so the other cruncher is crunching climate prediction/WCG. Still doing one GPU wu at a time though.
My 3770k and mobo came in today. Dam USPS must have played football with the box. Mobo got busted up. Looks like a couple weeks before getting another.

Sorry to hear your new mobo got damaged in transit. Doesn't that just fry your gizzard ?Maybe they will get the next one right.
Cheers

I was a bit steaming but still don't have the other parts in yet. Still haven't decided on a case yet. The rest will be here next week. Picked up some deals on black friday from the egg. Lost out on a sweet case thinking it would still be there the next morning. NOT. Oh well, hopefully more deals start popping up. wink

shock shock shock

Finland's total wolf-population is between 100 - 200.
It's one of those species which were totally wiped out by local human-population, but has recover as migration from Russia.

I spend some times outdoor but never seen wolf f2f, which I really would hope to do some days.
Know for sure that they do not charge against adult human male. Local documentation recognize 110 children eaten by wolfs, but not a single adult ever.
Closest I have ever get, is some footprint on my cabins yard on very very very backyards on Savonia

All I have manage meet is moose (local pop. öbaut 100 000), and they sure like to charge against human bulls like there is no tomorrow angry
Some really crappy herbivore IMHO.
