Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Get both. More deals are coming out and presume the 7000 series cards will drop with the 8000 series close to launch. If your an AMD person, have seen some sweet deals on 8 core for 400 bucks at Tiger Direct.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Unfortunately, there is only money available for one or the other right now. I'm leaning towards the CPU/mobo combo because I already have an Antec 900 case, Seasonic 650W PSU, 8Gb of DDR3 RAM, and a 640Gb HD sitting around.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Same here. Have to run dry my cache so I can remove the app info file. Am hoping another GPU project comes along soon, or HCC decides to expand.

HCC is projected for 91 more days. Click on chart if too small to read.

No known GPU projects after that, that I am aware of.

I am not sure if the Wikipedia article does justice to the whole meaning of the word, but it sure is informative. I can sure see where the pronunciation of the two words is very close.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We may be in trouble on the challenge here. Without GPU processing BOINC Italy may catch up. IT depends on how quickly the challenge actually ends.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

This is where your cpu power will shine again, mclaver.

I can only do about 150k ppd with cpu power alone :(

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I've come over to crunch for you guys for the duration of the Challenge. I don't have anything like the crunching power that some of you have, but I figure every little bit helps. :)

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

We need all the help we can get. After seeing tonights points, crying , its pathetic compared to what I was doing with GPU. Going to drag along until another GPU project comes along. Maybe if we all chant GPU GPU GPU, the next project will be GPU crunchable. biggrin
