Re: Minnesota Crunchers

brink, have you checked the power settings on your computer? Is it set to turn off the display after 15 minutes perhaps, and its possible that it has trouble waking up once it has been turned off.

I had that happen to a machine before, it was an nvidia card though. Solved by selecting never to the question about when to turn off the display.

My 6 7770's are all running smooth as silk, not one issue since I got them. My brands are 3 gigabyte, 1 xfx, 2 msi.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Mine is a this one.
My power settings are set to never sleep PC or monitor. I make sure all that junk is off. I put it in my other box and it did the same thing. I'm going to return it and get something else. I had an old GTX 460 laying around so I will use it until I pick out a better card.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Long time no see folks. Just got a new laptop with an AMD A8-4500M APU (Trinity) and it crunches HCC with GPU just fine - takes about 11 minutes per WU. Not bad for a 35W chip!

Greetings Minnesota crunchers. Although I am not on your team, I am a expat Minnesotan living in Texas... Is that enough for some help? I am desperately trying to get my A4-5300 APU to utilize the integrated GPU. Can you describe anything special you needed to do to get your APU to crunch the GPU? was it plug and play? Do the tasks show up as "CPU+ATU.." in the task list? I have have gotten as far as to get BOINC to recognize the GPU, but sadly WCG does not seem to give it WU.

All of my global settings are good since I have another machine successfully crunching WCG with GPU, but it is a discrete card.

I have not found many discussions on this online. If you know of some, just paste a link. Thanks a bunch.

Welcome. I hope you make back to Minnesota from time to time. I think the person who can help you is kateiacy. She has one those integrated units. She does view this thread quite often so hopefully she sees your request.
Cheers

I haven't had time to tinker with updating the driver and seeing what it would take to get it to run HCC GPU WUs. I know from these forums that that chip can run them, however.

That netbook is a dual boot machine, and I have no trouble running POEM GPU on the Linux side. So the chip clearly is OpenCL-capable, as claimed.

Sorry not to be of more help.

After extensive research last night, I took a step back and checked the obvious: WCG does not support Linux GPU crunching.

Funny. Thanks for the info though and happy crunching.
