Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I saw that picture somewhere, don't recall exactly where. Seems it was a Spanish shopkeeper. I seem to recall he was offered 20(or was it 50) Euros for it, which he refused. Somebody has a good sense of humor.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I see Intel has been busy cutting prices on the 45nm chips. They are getting ready to go with the new Nehalem architecture. I also see they are starting to talk about what will be in Larrabee, but do not yet say how many cores it will have. It appears they are tying some unknown video processing capabilities into the silicon also. I'll see if I can find the links for the stories.

Here is static of one of my computer, it was running on one Xeon/3.2Ghz/2MB and added there another one, it seems to get nice extra punch.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

That is impressive. Do you have a dual processor motherboard in there where you added another processor ? I have to keep my eye on the quad prices. One of these days I will take the plunge and upgrade. If I get real ambitious I will build one myself, perhaps a dual processor Q6600.

Yes in deed.
I also added power regulator to motherboard, power consumption on that prosesor is >100 w, it just does not run simply adding another one.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It is in the 80's F (26 C) here. Should be a high of about 88F (31 C). Should be thunderstorms later on today to cool things off. Sounds like you wish to "heat" things up. Perhaps the moonlight will enhance that feeling. wink

Cheers
