Re: Minnesota Crunchers

It is a beautiful 60 F(15.5C) this morning. Unfortunately the promised rain did not appear. However the temp makes it good weather to help my bettter half with canning some tomato juice and salsa. When you can your own you can leave most of the fire (hot peppers) out so it will be pretty mild, but you can at least taste the ingredients.

Note for non native English speakers: to can - to put into glass jars and seal with either a hot water bath or with a pressure cooker.

Cheers

I remember those days well. We canned tomato's, cucumbers (dill pickles), and beets.
My favorite were the baby dills with a chili pepper added. So good! That was all from our garden. We also canned Georgia peaches when they came to the store. That was a lot of work as I recall. We had no air conditioning on the farm and that kitchen was plenty HOT!!

I watched it on the tube. It was a great race. I am a big "Uncle Carl" fan.

You know what they say ... a NASCAR fan is one who will drive 900 miles to watch someone drive 500 miles! wink

Cheers MC.

So nice biggrin

I have no time for gardening right now, but when I was kid, I did huge amount conserve with my father, but method was quite much counter vice.
On our garden there was lot of red currants, gooseberry's, plums and apples.
First we quite much centrifugalize them to juice, and then froze them to solid ice.
Trick was that my father did have tons of ice cream molds, but instead using cream, my father fill them with juice that we did create.
So our all freezes were always full of these wonderful sorbets and me and my friend suck them like these no tomorrow...

Those were the days....

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Spent the day repairing my roof. The other night we had the 2" rain and I could here the water dripping in the wall. My plumbing stack was leaking. <sigh> It discolored the ceiling that was just re-sprayed 2 years ago. Owning a house is a pain sometimes.
Called my roofer (my brother) over and he said the plumbing stack vent was installed wrong, which I already knew. So I asked why after 10 years it starts leaking now????? ARGH!! It gave him and I a chance to drink a beer or two while we took our time and fixed it. wink
Him and I used to own a roofing company years ago before my knees went. I miss that job from time to time.
Now I sit in a 9x7 cube making sure 900 PCs don't get viruses and creating application packages....managed by morons. frustrated
Well, enough of that. Now I'm sitting here watching my boy play the drums to "Rock Band" on the PS3 and sipping a nice 10 years old Laphroaig (la-froyg) single malt Scotch. drooling

Sorry to hear about your knees. You traded one form of labor for another. 900 PC's eh ! That is quite a number. I presume you mean the users are the morons. I would guess they do more damage out of ignorance rather than maliciously.

Yea, owning a house can be an economic pain sometimes. We have a house where the original part is probably about 100 years old. It seems each owner wanted it a bit bigger so they added a piece on, even if it did seem to fit well. "Ungahangs" is what my wife call them. Repairing some of the old "handiwork" can be very challenging. Still, I would rather rather live where I am rather than an apartment.

Cheers

Nice job by MOT too. I am guessing you would have added more if the heat had been kinder to you. Now that Sept. is on the way it should be better.

Cheers
