Re: "The survivors"

Have you heard of the Peltier cooler?
I have been looking into thermoelectric coolers because they can produce temperatures below ambient.
They are not very efficient, but then, what is?

Re: "The survivors"

little mermaid,
I see you have a new SNURK signature and have found a home with a whacky team.
Not that we are not whacky, just not as much so as your present team.
Yes, I have a SNURK sign of which I'm fairly proud. It reveals all secrets,
so therefore I have to de-sign it now and then to not reveal a Base Camper's whereabouts.
I wish I could pick a sign that counted posts, tho, it would glitter like a diamond cool
Yes, my current team is a wonderfully whacky one
- and noone would have known had I not joined and asked if we had a team thread tongue
Would you like to know why I'm there?
Please say yes, so I get the opportunity to say I like mikey159b's posts and his SNURK sign said
The Final Front Ear which also sounded good in my ear smile

Re: "The survivors"

little mermaid,
I know why you are there.
If you were not a big cheese at base camp this team would be a happy home for you.
Not that you are whacky.
But that you like to have a good time.
You are a very social person.

Re: "The survivors"

gretchch,
I don't think I said what I meant to say.
If you have to throttle back uploads it is irrelevant to BOINC.
If BOINC is impacting your use of the PC it should be adjusted to suit you.
Never meant to imply that it was irrelevant to you.
I am sorry that I did a poor job of communicating.
What was the maximum upload rate setting that worked for you?

I suspended network activity and trapped two CEP2 uploads.
Both were a little over 20MB.
It took about 3:43 to upload each one.
The transfer rate varied but was about 95-100 KBps.

Re: "The survivors"

Woo Hoo - 1 Million points

Points Generated (Rank) 1,006,145 (#53,407)

That's 1 thousand thousand, or 10 hundred thousand.

Yipee!

NOW can we go to Disney World?

Re: "The survivors"

Congratulations, grumpygrampy
- if I were your Captain, you would be on your way to the Magic Kingdom ....

- yes, rcc, I have turned out to be a very social person much to my surprise
- as if I must catch up with something
- which is exactly what I feel I must
- there are incredibly many things I feel I must catch up with ...
- perhaps that's why I turn out to be speeding horribly also

Re: "The survivors"

grumpygrampy,
That's a million down and billions to go.
The bus to Disney left yesterday, but we do have a bus to Newark available.
Maybe you should take up little mermaid on her offer.

little mermaid,
The position of team captain is available for the right price.
You could throw an inauguration party at the magic kingdom.
And invite everyone you know.
it would be quite a party and the cable news networks could cover the event.
Your organizational skills would be put to good use.
Everyone could bring a tent and camp could be set up by the lagoon.
I'm fluffing up my sleeping bag as we speak.

Re: "The survivors"

I've set maximum upload speed to around 48K. This works pretty well, and it is no longer obvious when a CEP upload is happening. smile

Re: "The survivors"

May have experienced an epiphany.(I don't know what that means but it sounds like something I might do)
I can see a relationship between the SNURK signature Performance in Gflops and RAC (Recent Average Credit) found at Boinc all Project Stats.
RAC is also found on the Statistics tab on BOINC Manager, show user average.

Does anyone else see the correlation between RAC and Gflops?
(I know it is not a true epiphany but I wanted to grab your attention)

This all started because SNURK shows the Performance in Gflops.
I could not find the Gflops info at BOINC Stats.
Curiosity got the best of me.
Tomorrow I may hit 100.0 Gflops on my signature.
