Re: Minnesota Crunchers

The Minnesota State Fair starts on the 27th, which is the day I usually go. Hopefully the weather will cooperate on that day.

Cheers

Do not be shy if can grab some pics, sure would be nice to see.

Some intercontinental blueberry stuff.
Local forest (pic1) are just so fully of these, cannot explain why growth of these did pretty literally explode to hand on these later weeks of Autumn.
Pic is from couple of weeks behind, but there is just wave after wave after wave. Every hill that I have been hovered, has somehow manage to grow new harvest. There is just so much of blueberries that I can ever pick.
Seriously odd item is that on local mall, popup-shop was selling these today 24 EUR/l (30 USD/gt).
I just need to build some logical derivative about that, it kind of ends up to summation that most peoples inside Metropolitan area, have bats on bell-tower.

Intercontinental item.
Did roam local plant yard through and was able to found (pic2) this baby form from new continent.
Poor dude was pretty harshly beaten up, but I think I can make it flourish, just need to keep it inside so maggots do not take care of it.
Got some (pic3) 27W led headlight (left on pic) from off road vehicle, driving it with butcher power supply of external HDD, and add some tiny fan since running it indoors.
With quick glance, think this dude can self pollinate itself, so would not count out of topic that I might have some indoor blueberries on winter.
If that occurs, then reserve that 54W boat lamp (right on pic) for this bush only cowboy

Du duu du duu, the lamp is looo-oo-oo-oww

Thnks Joe.

Ou poi what I did just discover.
Taste of leafs of Vaccinium corymbosum (Americas), just happen to be scarily similar to taste of berry of Vaccinium myrtillus (European). Those are so identical, that it is really scary.

Sure, should be very safe to chew these.
So instead of aiming berries, I think I try grow as much as leafs as possible. Should be easy item to do, just accentuate to nitrogen on relation 4:1:1 cowboy

I think will christen this plant as george bush. You know, it is litteraly bush and originally from America thinking

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Here are a few of the pictures I took from the visit to the Minnesota State Fair on opening day.

Here is a sign they used to have with an old excavator bucket and a large block of taconite. They dismantled the display a number of years ago, but evidently still had the sign. It was leaning up against the Dept. of Natural Resources building.

You can get a wide variety of different foods on a stick, these are just a couple of them.

Here is the fair mascot, named Fairchild of course.

Here is a picture of the attendance statistics. the righmost coulumn lists the total attendance for the year indicated.

Here is a picture of the bootmobile, a promotionary vehicle from the L.L.Bean company of Maine.

Here is a crop art picture made entirely from seeds. This one won a blue ribbon.

Giant vegetables are always fun. Here is the largest pumpkin at the fair. About 668 kg.

And finally a picture of Princess Kay who is getting her likeness carved in a 90 lb.(40 kg) block of butter.

I had a good time, the weather was pleasant, and I ate fried cheese curds, a foot long hot dog and a chocolate malted milk.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Thank You Joe, so very nice pics.

As return pic of emigrant george, I think it will bloom after all.
Did feed it best photons (6400K and 2800K) and nutriensl up to step by step, and really think that george might have another 300y life to come.
Just hope I can share some of those myself. George should be take local climate, so maybe I will someday to put local soil....

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Summer time has decided to remain a while longer it seems into September. 94F(35 C) with humidity reminiscent of the tropics. Half of the potato crop (Yukon Gold) is out of the ground, with the other variety not ready until the frost comes. Most of the pumpkins and squash looked so good early in the season, but between the wilt, the worms and the deer, I will be lucky to get a dozen decent items from this crop. I did pick a couple of the nicer pumpkins before the deer decided to make a meal of them. The tomatoes are now coming along nicely, several ripening each day. My better half made a big bowl of salsa out of a bunch of them.

I had to shut everything down early this morning as a violent storm cam through. Not much rain 1/4 inch (6mm) but oh my did the lightning flash, less than one second between the flash and the thunder. It only lasted about 20 minutes, but was intense.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Still cannot figure out how to get them to show in post.

Basically you just need the address of the image and paste into the window which pops up when you hit the image button when you are composing a post. It took me a couple of tries to get it correctly done the the first time so I ended up deleting several posts which did not turn out right.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Hello fellows and thnks Bearcat for pics. So very nice ones!

Ou poi, I have been personally drowning to my jobs once again, so kind of happy that at least maggots did get best of my tiny garden.

Some odd destiny of mine, when civilization put high gear or belly up, dude like me just start to perform 12h workdays.
Only real difference is that on depression, HR-department will actually count hours and will not accept if I just happen to forget to skip my holidays or something.
Ten years ago, when economy was on turbo charge, nobody did not care single thing how long day I did perform or did I actually kept my holidays.
But now I just do not have much to say. Did kind of try to take my holidays (full 30 days still left) on form of four day work weeks, but noh........ They are pretty literally compalining me to expand my holiday rights, something that I just cannot remember occured during this century angry

Yeah well. George is doing so very fine, chap has already grow two inch new branch.
Makes me happy... So happy... Fellows just like to sip some phosphoric acid (pH 4), another vice so modest dude or dudette. Cannot say yet thinking

Some bug.
Sure, it is monsterious size, think dude on pic is close to four inch. Crappy pic since three layers of insulation glass between, but the heck I do not want these to get inside....
I mean that I have seen smaller seaguls that these, and simply because they are so huge, I just cannot whack them down like ordinary moth... That grand size just makes then so unique that it will lead some bizarre attemps to catch those under some bowl and release. Since they can fly, it can become some very crappy attempt d oh
