Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Joe, ever plant tomatoes or other in a bail of hay/straw? Wife heard about this and wants to give it a try.

I have never done this, but I have read about the technique. It has some advantages such as good weed control, good moisture retention, keeps the plants elevated off the ground helping to prevent ground rot and easier to reach. Then once the bale or ball is done at the end of the season, you just till it in to your garden. I may try it someday. If your wife does try it I will be curious how well it works for her.
Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Good luck with growing season to everyone good luck

I shut down 2 crunchers for the summer, only running my main 8 core desktop. If a new project comes along I'll fire them back up and eat the extra electric cost. Already had the AC going off and on for the past week or two, so gearing up for the bills...

Pretty close to getting 10 years on all active projects, which is my goal for now.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

I took down all of the servers I had in the barn. I needed to blow the dust out of them. I was pleasantly surprised that the amount of dust in them was not greater then it was. The heat sinks on the processors were only about half full, still it was good to get it done before the heat of summer.
I would like to get 50 years on MCM1 before it ends, but it will be close. I need about 100,000 more hours. If the project lasts until about October 1, I should be able to make it. If it speeds up with end of FAAH happening I may fall short. The important thing is not the badge, but getting the project completed. Crunch on.
Cheers

One of my "can't sleep" nights. Still bad back issues with the back surgery 4 years ago. Sometimes I wish I would have never had 3 discs fused.

Sorry to hear that. I don't suppose there is anything else they could do to relieve the pain ? Hope you don't have too many of those.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Been through different options from acupuncture to burning the nerve endings. Never ending story. Trying the nerve burn again, which is painful as hell since no pain medication is allowed to be used to see if it works. Hoping this time I get some kind of relief.
